Il est indispensable de s'assurer du type de transmission dont vous avez besoin avant commande. Sur les petites cylindrées nous retrouvons majoritairement sur les 50cc du 420 (largeur 6 mm, entraxe 12.7mm) mais certaines 50 et la plupart des 125 sont équipées en 428 (largeur 7 mm, entraxe 12.7mm), voire pour les 125 en 520 (largeur 6 mm, entraxe 15.8mm). L'ensemble des pièces du kit à savoir le pignon, la chaîne et la couronne doivent impérativement être du même type.
